ThruYOU by Kutiman

Hi Guys,

As this blog is not only dedicated to media but also to art, I had to mention Ophir Kutiel and his genius talent on one of my posts. Ophir was born in 1982 in Jerusalem, Israel, and is best know as Kutiman, alias inspired by his passion for Fela Kuti.

Originally trained in jazz he was introduced early on to afrobeat and funk by his on-going music parter Sabbo. His discovery of Reggae music occurred in Jamaica, where he had the opportunity to meet and work with the Marley's boys (Stephen & Damien).

He released his first single "No groove where I come from" in 2006 under the Melting Pot Music label, quickly followed by his first album. He has been awarded the "Artists to Watch" mention by Under The Radar in 2008, thanks to his successful song with Karolina of Habanot Nechama, "Music is Ruling My World".

Not only he is a musician, but he also composes, produces and animate. His ThruYOU project released in 2009 is the work I get exited about! He had the stunning idea of mixing some Youtube videos samples, both motion and sound, and produced 8 amazing tracks in 2 months. The ThruYOU website, designed by Bacon Oppenheim, created a proper buzz. All the credits are accessible from the site and all the musicians that have already been contacted declared to be super flattered by the initiative... no wonder!

Here are some of my favorite tracks. What are yours?
